Introducing Pixie Abbott Photography. Pixie is an enthusiastic, energetic, vibrant young photographer who loves to express herself through pictures. She has a self-professed tendency to ‘cry a little’ at every wedding and ‘dance a little’ at every reception.
Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I am a chatterbox, a little extravagent and love anything vintage. Married to the love of my life Jake and we have an adorable black labrador called Billy who also shared in the celebrations on our wedding day!
I’m 30 years old, have a degree in graphic design and art history. I started my own business 4 years ago because I have a massive passion for photography. Since then as well as photographing weddings in England I have travelled and photographed weddings in America, Spain, Italy and many more. My job is everything to me, it’s not a job – it’s my life. My aim is to photograph a wedding through my creative eyes, the ways others wouldn’t necessarily see it. I believe creativity is everything and being unique, I like my work to stand out.
People, views from outside of windows, the soft light at the end of the day and natural light of the golden hour all enable me to produce the most intimate, fascinating and realistic series of images that communicate ‘love’ without words. They will show beauty, love, laughter, sadness and joy. It’s my way of capturing your moments that can be frozen forever and relived at any given time.
See it…feel it…but above all…remember it!
How did you get into wedding photography and what do you love about it so much?
I first started shooting wedding due to my friend. As soon as I had worked on my first wedding – I fell in love. There is something about the people, the excitement – you can’t beat it.
How long have you been shooting weddings and what has been one of your favourites?
It has been 5 years. It is really hard for me to pick a favourite but if I had to choose it would be one of two destination weddings. One was in Vegas and the other in Costa Rica.
How would you define your style?
Unique, natural and documentary.
How do you make your couples feel at ease?
By making them laugh!
Can you talk us through the process a couple would go through from booking you to the wedding day?
I have a cuppa with them to discuss their wedding and so we can all get to know each other and make sure they are happy to have me as their photographer. If they wish to go ahead from there I draw up the contract and we arrange the pre-shoot. The pre-shoot works really well to just really make sure I get to know them and they get comfortable with me.
In your opinion, what makes for great wedding photography?
A photographer who has a passion and a drive. Someone who wants to create something truly unique.
What is your favourite shot to capture at a wedding?
I don’t have just one, the whole day!
How expensive would you rate your services?
If you could give any advice to upcoming brides what would it be and why?
PHOTOGRAPHY IS IMPORTANT!!! And the relationship you have with your photographer. You need to feel comfortable around them. Never book a photographer unless you have met them, look at their work and not just what they show on facebook or their website. Ask to look at a few wedding albums, so you get a feel of how they photograph throughout the day.
MUSIC is also so important. Have it playing throughout the day. As much as you can and don’t forget the drinks reception.
Remember it’s YOUR day. No one else’s – not your Aunt Pam or Uncle Freds. You will have this day to remember for the rest of your life.
And last but not least, enjoy it. Every little second!
