Bianca & Robert had their civil ceremony outside in the sun on a stunning hotel terrace in Romania with views overlooking the beautiful city of Alba-Iulia. They opted for a simple, intimate ceremony before the big wedding celebration next year. With such a beautiful backdrop Bianca & Robert were able to keep the decoration to a minimum with homegrown peonies & simple styling.
The engagement day was unexpected, because it started as a regular one, where we were going to follow our daily schedule. I went to college, and he went to work. At 5 o’clock, we would meet at home, and he would prepare the food. At 4 o’clock when he got out of work, he sent me a message that he missed the bus and that he would not get home in time to eat. We decided to order food from the city, and he said he would handle it. He got home before I got home. When I got out of college, I called him, he said he was waiting for me. I got home and he had such strange behavior (because of the emotions). I did not suspect anything. He called me to our room, knelt down and asked me the question. From that moment I do not remember much, because I thought it was a joke, but at the same time I did not think this wonderful thing had happened to me. He put my ring on my finger, I said ‘yes’, we kissed, and then went out to town to dinner to celebrate. I loved it so much because it happened when I did not expect it on a usual Wednesday day, just one week away from our two year anniversary.
We set the civil marriage date three years from our first date. We wanted the event to be an intimate one, to have our best friends and closest relatives with us. It was more wonderful than we expected, because the emotions were so high and the weather was on our side (it was supposed to rain). It was splendid.
We had our ceremony at the most beautiful hotel in town which has a stunning garden with a city view. We live in a beautiful city in Romania, Alba-Iulia. We chose to have an outdoor wedding because we love the month May, it would have been a shame to be locked in a room. We chose that place, because it’s famous for outdoor weddings, and the view is superb. After the wedding, we stayed at the restaurant for the hotel and every guest ordered what they wanted.
For the marriage ceremony I wanted a simple, short, white dress. I searched for a few months on the internet, but when I expected less, I found it. It was from Zee Lane and exactly how I wanted it. I accessorised with some simple shoes I found from H&M, I just didn’t want white shoes as they aren’t for me.
Hair & Makeup
I wanted a more natural look, but it was done professionally. I scheduled a salon in the city for both my makeup and hair. A couple of weeks before I searched intensely on Pinterest for a style I liked and found some loose curls for my hair. For my makeup, something simple, lightly pink-purple for the eyes.
I didn’t have any bridesmaids for the civil ceremony but I will have for the wedding. They will be wearing burgundy dresses.
The bouquet was made by my mother-in-law. It had one single lilly and nine red peonies. Peonies are my soul flowers and all the flowers were from her garden. We then used any flowers we received on the day to decorate the tables.
The Grooms Suit
I wanted a cake, but we decided that we would have assorted cakes from a bakery in town. My mother-in-law took care of their purchase, and the guests were excited – they enjoyed them.
I received recommendations from my friends about the photographer and I was not dissapointed. From our first meeting, until the wedding day, we got along very well. His package included pictures and a video.
