Real Wedding: Caroline & Antony

Caroline had lost both her parents so when she had a dream about her dad giving her away on the 12th August it was a date she couldn’t get out of her mind and the story of how it became her wedding date will give you goosebumps. Caroline & Antony had originally planned to have a destination wedding in Jamaica but with the guest list growing smaller and a dream that couldn’t be ignored they decided to change and have it at the stunning  The KP Resort. A truly special day for these pair with the rose gold decor, blush roses and a smoke bomb.

The Engagement

We have been together about 11 years and have a little boy Preston together who is 6. Me and Antony make time for one another ‘date night’ as we call it and try to go away somewhere special for the night every 6 months or so. This time we had decided to go to the Titanic in Liverpool we spent the day at the spa, followed by food and cocktails. The Titanic is an old rum warehouse and over the way is a derelict building this sort of thing fascinates me and I decided to sit on the huge windowsill to look out at it in the darkness.

Antony joined me so we were sat in our robes on this huge windowsill trying to decide if anyone was actually in the building over the way – I stood up and next minute Antony was on one knee with a jelly Haribo ring trying to get the words out to ask me to marry him! My dreams all came true in that very second!

The Wedding

My Mum & Dad have passed away so I wanted to involve them as much as I could as I thought it would be a very emotional day. Before we got engaged I had a dream and in the dream, Antony asked my Dad what he was doing on the 12th August 2017 and he replied giving my daughter away. I woke up and said to Antony we are getting married on 12th August 2017 he laughed and said we aren’t even engaged yet!!

Once engaged we started planning it but I have a child Jamie with Autism and wanted to make the day easy for him so we decided to go abroad in 2018 to do it but the 12th August was stuck in my head and the dream seemed to be getting further and further away.

People couldn’t make Jamaica and my small wedding was turning into a lonely wedding so I said to Antony can we do it here in the UK and look at The KP Resort where we had been on date nights several times. He agreed but told me not to rush into anything, but me being me did and I contacted them…….. Marie at The KP replied to my email that they had a cancellation for the 12th August 2017 would that be any good……..I was ecstatic and said book it!! Everything felt like it was meant to be.

I then had 8 months to plan…………I wanted glitzy glam with a little shabby chic, so I contacted Cristal at Shindig Events and had an amazing meeting where we planned the whole décor. She was amazing and I can’t recommend her enough.

Hair & Makeup

I had 3 makeup trials and hate wearing too much, caked on makeup so eventually decided to do my own and so pleased I did, I felt so happy with it although spent a small fortune buying new!

My hairdresser was Ashleigh Hickling at Robert Michael in Selby. She had the task of doing my hair and we settled for what I would call an old style  Audrey Hepburn ish updo.

The Dress

I went to several shops and was losing hope until I went to Tickled Pink in Hatfield and as soon as I saw it I knew it was my dress!

It was Ronald Joyce and was the absolute opposite to what I was planning on having – I thought I would be mermaid style and this was very princess – I loved it!

I decided last minute I needed something and went to Debenhams and bought a Jon Richard necklace, bracelet and hair slide – then I got my earring from Swarovski.

Bridesmaid Dresses

I wanted blush pink and got my bridesmaid dress from Ebony Rose at the same shop as my dress came from.

Groom & His Men

We went to Next and bought them everything and the little ones matching. Their ties were from ASOS and I had to pay to get the little ones altered to little ties!

I had pale pink roses which I chose to compliment my pink and gold theme from Ginny’s Flowers for all Occasions.

We wanted a relaxed day so chose canapes, followed by hog roast for day guests then later on at midnight we had sausage & bacon sandwiches.

Our wedding cake was amazing, we saw Nice Icing at a wedding fair and decided to use her. My wedding cake didn’t get eaten as my little boy Jamie who has autism heard someone say ‘bag the cake up’ so that’s exactly what he did! He was carrying it around in a Haribo bag!

We had a games room for the children (but the adults used this more!) We hired retro arcade machines which were a huge hit with the men! We had a photobooth from R & R magical moments, Led dance floor from LED dance floor hire and then later at night we had a huge firework display from The Fireworkers. I also did my own sweetie table – which was a huge hit!

I wanted natural pictures and was recommended Alfie Wright Photography – he was absolutely amazing, he has a natural talent and everyone has commented how he made everyone so at ease in front of the camera – we even forgot he was there at times!

Bride To Bride

Take time to be with your new husband and take in the whole day.

Don’t feel like you have to invite everyone – I didn’t and it made my day so much nicer.
