Real Wedding: Jenna & Joe

Real Wedding: Jenna & Joe

A beautiful South Coast wedding in Australia for you today. Jenna arrived in style with her own horse and carriage to this stunning ocean view ceremony venue beautifully decorated with a rustic arch draped in pink blooms. Don’t miss the amazing highlight video.

Joe and I went on a big holiday to New York for New Years in 2012 and then in early 2013 travelled to Vegas, LA and Hawaii. The day Joe proposed to me (January 2013) we went to Kualoa Ranch in Hawaii.  We went on a Safari jeep tour, a bus tour of all the famous movie sites, horse riding and quad biking. It was the most amazing day. That night Joe took me to Top of Waikiki Restaurant and asked me to marry him…could the day have been any more perfect? It was total bliss and I was speechless. We had been together for 6 years since we were both 16 years old. I didn’t expect it, he totally blew me away. We were engaged for 3 years and 9 months because we were also building a house together as well as planning a wedding.

We wanted our day to represent us, it was all about the love we have for one another and the promise we made to one another in our vows to share a lifetime of love and happiness. The most important part of our wedding day was when I stepped out of the carriage and walked down the aisle with my Dad to my beautiful man. It was such a surreal feeling, even though there was music was playing, our family and friends were there…I saw nothing and heard nothing but Joe. My eyes were fixed on him and the love we have for one another was shining brightly even though the clouds were grey, it was so emotional. The way he looked at me I knew I was the only girl in the world for him. Such a magical moment for us.

Joe and I were married at Blacks Beach Reserve in Kiama right next to the ocean. It is a beautiful place, so peaceful, picturesque and a place we both love. Our reception was at the Sebel Harbourside in Kiama which is directly across the road from Blacks Beach Reserve.

We have just over 100 people attend our wedding. The theme of our wedding was vintage/rustic, we chose this theme because it is so beautiful and classy.

In three words it was “Magical, breathtaking, fairytale”.

I purchased my dress from Accapella Bridal in Wollongong. The designer was Justin Alexander. Mum and I, my sister and my bridesmaids went to a few dress shops locally and then went to Sydney but could not find anything, there were dresses that I liked, even thought I had found the one but I was still unsure. My friend then suggested Accapella Bridal so we went there and it was such an amazing experience, it was a one on one consultation, I even had to wear white gloves to try on the dresses, it was so professional and that was what I liked. Connie the owner then told me about a Justin Alexander trunk show that she was having in her store and it seemed the dresses I liked were all JA.

On the day of the trunk show I tried on 2 dresses, the first one was strapless and the bodice was covered in pearls – it was beautiful. I then tried on something I never thought I’d look at because I always wanted strapless. This one had straps and a keyhole back with a plunging neckline. The detailing of the lace and beading on the bodice was incredible and it had the train I wanted. It was stunning and definitely a dress that makes a statement – I knew it was my dress. My mum, my sister and my best friends all became emotional when I made the decision and I knew it was definitely the right one. It took a few months to find the right dress and I felt amazing in it.

The boy’s suits were from Bonanno’s  Menswear in Fairy Meadow. I wanted to be involved in the choosing of the suits, we went for navy suits with white shirts, brown belts, brown shoes, ivory tie for Joe and navy ties for the groomsmen. I wanted to be involved because I wanted everyone to be involved, my parents came to the appointment as well as Joe’s parents so both our Dad’s could also get their suits. My brother Lee is also one of Joe’s best mates and was in the groom’s party. It meant a lot to us that we were all involved.

My girl’s bridesmaids dress were absolutely stunning, they were navy love honour dresses. They had lace up around the bust with off the shoulder sleeves and a train with a lace V cut out.

My hair was done by my best friends sister Verity, she is amazing with up styles, in fact, all wedding hair.  It meant a lot to me for her to do our hair as I am very close to her and her family.

Our makeup was done by Shay Gittany and her 2 assistants and they did such an amazing job. Our makeup looked beautiful and stayed on all day.

Our flowers and set up for the ceremony and reception was done by Owl and Pussycat Events. Katie was absolutely amazing and she knew exactly what I wanted to compliment our vintage theme. Our bouquets were bright pinks, light pinks and greenery with brown twine wrapped around.

Ceremony – There were petals down the aisle and flowers hanging on the chairs down the aisle. We had a garland with florals and hanging glass cups with florals inside.

Reception – Every table was set up beautifully with flowers, glassware, candles and the surrounding tables where the wishing well was.

Drinks and a mixture of hot and cold canapes were served for our guests before the reception. Our entrée was pork belly or chicken tikka. Mains – New York Sirloin and vegetables and Chicken Shiraz with vegetables. Dessert was our wedding cake and the chocolate fountain buffet for everyone to enjoy.

Our wedding cake was amazing and my sister in law Katrina made it for us. It was a 4 tier naked cake with 2 tiers of chocolate mud with ganache inside and 2 tiers of caramel mud cake. Each tier had gold foil down the sides and caramel drizzled down too with deep pink fresh flowers on top and down the tiers. We had a wooden Happily Ever After sign on the top tier. It meant so much to us for Katrina to make it as she is Joe’s sister, my best friend and one of my bridesmaids. We picked a naked wedding cake because it went well with our vintage theme. Katrina went round the tables to make sure everyone was eating the cake, it was way too good to not eat!

Our wedding invites were vintage with lace down the left-hand side with 3 white flowers and pearl sprays. The writing was in a vintage style and printed on a brown card. We had an RSVP card on top in white card and then a wishing well card on top in brown. They were tied together with brown rope with a J & J emblem made for Joe and I. The invites matched our theme and it flowed nicely. We had our invites made at Incentive in Oak Flats. I did consider making them myself but we had so much to do with the wedding planning and the house being built we decided to get them made to take the stress away.

For entertainment, we had a DJ and also a chocolate fountain fruit and candy bar for all our guests to enjoy throughout the night.

Joe and I also took dance lessons so our first dance was just beautiful, we danced like it was just Joe and me in the room. We danced to Ronan Keating – When you say nothing at all.

Dad and I also took dance lessons and done our father daughter dance to Angel by Elvis Presley and then broke out into the Jailhouse Rock – it was so fun, we had all our guests up and cheering.

Phil Winterton was our photographer and he was amazing, he was so helpful and helped make our day run smoothly. We talked with him a lot before the wedding and felt like we knew him very well. Everything went to plan and we were always on time. We booked Phil because he photographed one of my best friends wedding and he was also very highly recommended by the Sebel. He lives in the Kiama area and knows all the good places for great, amazing photos. We had a package that included 9 hours of coverage, wedding album, 2 parent packs and all our photos were given to us on a USB and there are over 550 photos, we now need to pick which ones go in our album, so many to choose from!

Our videographer was Daniel Cartwright – No Limit Pictures. He was recommended by our photographer Phil and we trusted Phil’s word and yes he was amazing. He gave us exactly what we were after, a beautiful highlight video with a vintage filter over the top. He also gave us the full video of the ceremony and reception. We also had Daniel for 9 hours. So happy with our videos.

The moment I walked down the aisle was the most emotional and magical feeling I have ever felt in my life and our personal vows to one another will be with us forever. It was just like it was just Joe and me, our love for each other shined so bright and will always shine brightly.

Our ceremony was very heartfelt as my twin sister Christie (maid of honour) and Joe’s sister Katrina (bridesmaid) both wrote a poem to Joe and me which they read, they were so beautiful and it was very emotional.

Mine and Joe’s first dance was so amazing, we were so in the moment with one another like it was just us in the room and I will remember the magical feeling forever. So much love, lust, passion and trust in one another. A true fairytale wedding. Every time Ronan Keating when you say nothing at all comes on it brings it all back to me.

Don’t worry about everyone else, worry about you and your husband to be, it’s your day not anybody else’s so don’t let anyone upset you throughout the planning of the most magical day of your lives. You only get to do it once in your lifetime so do it the way you want it and who cares what anybody else thinks, at the end of the day you are the ones that are going to live with the choices you make so make it worth it.

Also, take in every moment of the day because it goes so fast, take a moment to sit back and take it all in, all the hard work you did paid off, all the planning and stress was all worth it.

Also, make a note of what photographs you want your photographer to get, the day goes so fast you don’t even think about it. We got some amazing shots but there were some shots with me and the girls I wished we had gotten, one of the back of our dresses as all our dresses had beautiful backs.
