Real Wedding: Jessica & Michael

Check out the stunning autumn colour palette for this fall wedding. A beautiful collaboration of yellow, purple and the stunning autumnal backdrop makes this wedding warm our hearts!

The Engagement

We got engaged in London and you can see the whole thing here:

We had been living together for 3 or so years and have dated on and off for 10 years! I really didn’t think he would propose anytime soon until he was acting all weird in the video above. Our engagement video really went viral! We were featured in Cosmo, Insider, Right This Minute and The Little Things.

THE WEDDING

We got married on October 22, 2016, after being engaged for just over a year.

We wanted our day to be fun, classy, and just us (unique). I just wanted to remember how excited I was to be getting married to my now husband. We only had around 100 people at our wedding. So I guess it was a smaller affair.

The theme of my wedding was vintage fall.

THE VENUE & CEREMONY

For the ceremony, we choose The Worlds Fair Pavillion at Forest Park in STL. I wanted to get married outside because it’s fall and the park is incredibly beautiful in the fall with the trees changing. For the reception, we chose the Mahler Ballroom, simply because it had that old vintage look.

THE DRESS

I purchased my dress from Carol Frew in Alton IL. Watters is the designer for my dress. I found my dress at the first place I visited and my mom actually picked it out! I knew it was the one instantly! It curved in all the right places and made my figure look really good. Plus it had tons of lace and bling!

GROOM AND HIS MEN

For the groom, we went to Express and purchased his suit there. We didn’t want anyone in a tux since we were going for a more casual feel. We found an awesome bright blue suit for him and the groomsmen wore a grey suit. He wanted to stand out too.

BRIDESMAIDS

Bridesmaid dresses we found at the same place and I don’t remember the designer for theirs, but I knew I wanted something that had a similar cut as mine. Plus more lace, since I was going for the vintage look.

HAIR & MAKEUP

I did my own makeup which I recreated on my youtube channel and for my hair I used a friend I  already knew.

FLOWERS

I choose sunflowers to really go with the theme and because I knew the yellow would really pop next to the eggplant of the bridesmaid’s dresses. In my bouquet, I incorporated vintage broaches and my great cousin’s lace from her wedding dress.

For the reception centrepieces, I purchased the craft pumpkins from Michaels craft store and I purchased all the flowers there as well for the centrepieces and made them myself. It saved us a lot of money especially if you wait until the end of that season when everything is 70% off. After it was over I gave all the pumpkins away to my friends and family.

Food

We had Smoke Fire BBQ cater our wedding. The food was delicious and they also made Milk Shakes for all the guests!!!

Our cake was from Wedding Wonderland and it was really good, but honestly I was more excited about the Milk Shakes LOL.

STATIONERY

I ordered everything online as far as invitations and all that. We did have a wedding website but it was more of a honeymoon fund kinda things on zola.com.

entertainment

For the ceremony we had our friend (her name is Jemma Johnson – she’s amazing) playing the guitar and singing while everyone was seated and while my bridesmaids and I came down the aisle. At the ceremony, people came up to the sound guy asking if they could buy tickets to come see her! After we kissed and started walking down she played Justin Timberlake’s Happy!! That was a really fun touch! She played for a half hour at the reception as well.

PHOTOGRAPHY

We booked a friend of ours Ash Forest from Forte Photography! We already knew she would do an amazing job and she did.  We also had our wedding filmed by Chris van Dehey and Megan Fairless.

CHERISHED MEMORIES

I think just that feeling of finally being able to marry the man of my dreams and how happy I was being surrounded by the people I love.

BRIDE TO BRIDE

My advice would just be to relax and just know that things won’t go as planned, but none of that will matter in the end. All that matters is that both of you are happy and together.
