Real Wedding: Leanne & Tom

A classically romantic colour palette of pastel pink and green for Leanne & Tom. The 350-year-old barn at Ye Olde Plough House in Essex adds a rustic element to this wedding complimented perfectly by the 12 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens.

Tom proposed in our living room 3 days before our 1 year anniversary. He said he couldn’t wait to give me my presents and made me close my eyes and hold out my hands he gave me the ring box and told me to open. We were engaged for 7 years before we finally said I do.

We got married in October 2016. We just wanted a day where all our family and friends were together and have a good time. Tom originally wanted to get married abroad just me and him because he hates attention, but in the end, he was glad we did it the way we did.

Everybody kept telling me to take everything in because it will go really quick. So when we were saying our vows I remember just thinking to remember this moment.

I chose the colours pink and green for our wedding after seeing pictures of Tom and Giovanna’s fletchers wedding online. The girls were pink and the boys in green. We even had a 3ft love sign in green and pink that I loved from Letters in Light.

If I described my wedding in three words it would be emotional, happy and exciting.

We got married at the Ye Olde Plough House in Bulphan, Essex because it wasn’t far from where we live and had been told the gardens were beautiful for pictures.

I got my wedding dress from Serena Bridal in Wickford. It was the second dress I tried on and I fell in love. All the other dresses I tried didn’t even compare, I knew it was the one. When the dress arrived and I tried it on the fit was so perfect I didn’t need any adjustments.

We got the boys outfits from Debenhams  I went with Tom to pick them out and we decided on a grey fitted suit with a light green tie. The groomsmen all had the same.

My bridesmaids’ dress were from Elsies Attic online. They were a mink colour.

I saw a few pictures online of flowers I liked and showed them to our florist, Poppies Designer Flowers who liked them too. They were a mixture of pink roses with white and pink baby’s breath.

We had a 3-course meal. Two different starters for girls and boys and beef for main, for dessert we had a trio of mini desserts. We had a 3 tiered wedding cake that a lot of people took with them to eat.

I purchased my stationery from Bride and Groom Direct and chose a vintage theme.

We put littles games on the tables for our guests to play. These included drinking games and puzzles. In the evening we had a DJ to play music and a photo booth from that everybody loved including my nieces and nephews.

We booked Bloomwood Photography for our wedding, we booked Emma through a recommendation from my mum.

Our photos are beautiful and we couldn’t be happier.

The people who were there and made it special for me and tom. My bridesmaids were amazing throughout the day I couldn’t have done it without them.

I’ll always remember our first dance because tom never ever dances with me.

The whole day went smoothly and we just relaxed and enjoyed it.

My advice would be not to try and please everybody it’s your day, enjoy it and don’t stress the little details.
